How to Enable SPF for Barracuda Email Security

To set up your SPF record with Barracuda or edit your current SPF record to include Barracuda, follow the steps below:

If you do already have an SPF record on your domain

Simply add one of the following, based on the region of your Barracuda Email Security Service, to your existing SPF Record:

  • US Region: include:spf.ess.barracudanetworks.com
  • UK Region: include:spf.ess.uk.barracudanetworks.com
  • Germany Region: spf.ess.de.barracudanetworks.com

Don't already have SPF setup for your domain?

To create an SPF record for your domain name, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Barracuda Cloud Control account
  2. Click Email Security in left pane
  3. Go to Inbound Settings > Sender Authentication page
  4. Select from available options in Use Sender Policy Framework section (Block FAIL; Block FAIL, SOFTFAIL; Off)
  5. Create a TXT record with the following specifications: v=spf1 include:spf.ess.barracudanetworks.com ~all

If you are not using the US Region them use one of the following:

  • UK Region: v=spf1 include:spf.ess.uk.barracudanetworks.com ~all
  • Germany Region: v=spf1 spf.ess.de.barracudanetworks.com ~all
